Anywhere, Anytime

Description: is a joint venture started by:

  • AOL
  • MSN
  • MySpace
  • Facebook
  • Comcast
  • Yahoo!
  • NBC Universal
  • Disney
  • News Corp.

Content includes many of the shows you see on TV, including Family Guy, Glee, and Saturday Night Live.  A desktop version of the website called Hulu Desktop, which is compatible with Windows, OS X, and Linux, has been released and is available for download at no cost to you.  Hulu Desktop is definitely worth getting if you are frequent user of the original website.  The application’s user-interface is very friendly and it is virtually free of all bugs and glitches.  The iPad and iPhone app for Hulu is called Hulu Plus.  Hulu Plus can downloaded from iTunes onto your iPad or iPhone.  Hulu Plus is also compatible with the PS3, Xbox, and TV. Hulu Plus costs $9.99 per month and it gives you access to all of its content in HD.

Hulu is, by far, my favorite entertainment website.  All of my favorite shows are available on the site, and its free.  When Hulu Desktop came out I was even more pleased.  This desktop application allowed me to watch any show I wanted, for free, straight from my desktop! is definitely one of the best websites on the internet.

Internet Archive

Ever wondered what looked like back when it first appeared?  The Wayback Machine allows users to search any URL and see what its webpages looked like years ago.  This online service is becoming increasingly popular with internet fanatics who simply want to know what their favorite sites looked like in the past.  The Wayback Machine is one of many “archive” services available under the domain

The Wayback Machine is definitely one of the most useful internet applications on the web.  Its ability to record a website’s appearance and store it on its servers is an invaluable tool that can be used by any web-worker.  Truly an internet great.

Rate My Teachers

Teacher and Campus Ratings Provided by Students and Parents

Description: is a comprehensive rating website that allows students and parents (although its is mostly meant for the former) to rate their teachers.  Each rating requires the rater to asses the easiness, helpfulness, clarity, and popularity of the given teachers.  Each one of these qualities must be given a rating between one and five, with five being the best.  Each result for the four individual assessments is averaged into the rater’s overall rating of that teacher.  Adding comments to your rating is an optional part of your review.   I find this feature very useful when I need to express my views on a teachers using words.  All ratings are anonymous and signing up and logging in is not required to give a rating.

Rating: ★★★★

This website is very useful to students who want to anonymously write about their teachers.  If you have (or had) a teacher that was real pain in the neck, then go to to complain, insult, and rant all you want.  On the other hand, if you have (or had) a teacher that was awesome, then click on the link above and start raving.  This website only allows reviews on high school teachers, which I guess carves out its niche, but I would still prefer an additional option that lets me review college professors as well.

The Kingdom of Loathing

Kingdom of Loathing Logo

The Kingdom of Loathing is a 2-D, multiplayer RPG (Role-Playing Game) that is free for players to use.  It is a humorous game with NPC characters such as the Saber-Toothed Lime and the menacing Booze Giant.  You can create a character by choosing one of the character classes.  The classes include:

  • Seal Clubber
  • Turtle Tamer
  • Pastamancer
  • Souceror
  • Disco Bandit

Accordion Thief.  The currency in The Kingdom of Loathing is meat and the ability to do things in the game is controlled by your total amount of “actions”.  Everyday, each user is given 40 new action points.  Each point is used when you go on an adventure.  Here is a link to the Wikipedia page of the game:  About The Kingdom of Loathing.

Rating: ★★

The Kingdom of Loathing is the simplest RPG on the internet.  Navigating around The Kingdom of Loathing is very straightforward.  There are no control keys, which means you can’t really move your character around.  You can just click your desired destination on the game map, and that one click alone will take you there.  If you want to complete an action, then you just click on the button that allows to do it.  For example, to complete an adventure, all you have to do is click the “Adventure” button.  It’s as easy as that.  This online game has been awarded only two stars because of its lack of content.  There are not enough things to do in the game if you are an experienced player.  Fortunately, the developers of The Kingdom of Loathing, Asymmetric Publications, are adding new quests, adventures, and characters every day.

Business Opportunities Weblog Network

Dan Carlson’s Business Opportunities Weblog

This blog is most popular among entrepreneurs and small business owners, and it is run by Dan Carlson, who is an entrepreneur himself.  The blog includes a “Directory” to help you find specific articles, “Classifieds”, where ads are posted, “Business ideas”, “Bizops”, “Franchises”, “MLM”, which is a separate blog, “WAHM”, which is a link back to the main page, “Work at Home”, which is another separate blog, and the “Recommended Services” page.  The Business Opportunities Weblog offers information on all entrepreneur-related topics, and it posts a large number of articles each day.

This blog is a must-read for any serious entrepreneur.  The articles that the writers produce daily are helpful, informative, interesting, and plentiful!  In addition to being a great business blog for adults, this blog can also be used by teenagers.  Anyone aspiring to create a business needs to read this blog at least once a week.  Although it is described as “Dan Carlson’s”, the actual posts are written by many different people.  One other aspect of this website that is awesome is its small network of small, niche blogs.  It has two separate blogs; one about working at home, and the other about business marketing.  The integration of niche blogs as part of the entire Business Opportunities Weblog Network is amazing and convenient.
The one part of this blog that is not so great is the picture of Dan Carlson on the homepage.  Instead of having his picture there, the space could be used to display a preview of an article, which would much more attractive.  This doesn’t mean that he is ugly, but photos of the editor should be limited to the “about” page, especially on a professional blog like this one.

The Prediction Market

Description: is a unique combination of a private stock market and a gambling site.  The website allows members to bet on their own predictions.  For example, if you believe that the state of California will legalize marijuana during the November 2010 ballot, then put your money where your mouth is, log onto, and bet on it!  This website gives internet users unique opportunities to bet on world events.  The official stock market is just limited to shares of companies, but opens the door to a new kind of investing.  Identical to gambling, and similar to investing, is a place where fortunes can be both made and lost.

Rating: ★★★★

This website demonstrates the Internet’s innate ability to provide special, never-before seen resources and services. not only allows individuals to bet on their predictions, but the website itself can make accurate predictions based on what its users are betting on.  One example of’s prediction accuracy was when it allowed users to bet on which president would win which states during the United States’ election night.  During the night of President Obama’s election, held betting opportunities based on which states would be won over by which candidate.  It predicted 49 out of 50 states correctly.   This is just one example of’s ability to harness the power of collective intelligence and use it to make correct and astonishing predictions.  The only reason this site did not receive an “outstanding” rating was because of its unimpressive appearance.
